Project 2: Social Media Package

My second project is comprised of six social media posts made for Instagram, with the first post covering voter suppression overall and then each following one explaining a certain type of voter suppression. They fall into a series entitled “A College Student’s Guide to Voter Suppression.” This project also underwent deep revision; below, an example of the original posts is on the left while its revised counterpart is on the right.

The revisions consisted of adding more interesting visual elements and decreasing the concentration of text on each post slide. I also changed the overall theme from laurels and leaves to check boxes, pieces of paper, and small characters who are voting or using their voices.

All of the posts can be found here:

  2. Shelby County v. Holder
  3. Felony Disenfranchisement
  4. Voter ID Laws
  5. Polling Place Closures
  6. Voter Registration Laws

Project 3: Voting Legislation Letters

My third project consists of four letters, each to a different U.S. politician, that discuss current voting rights legislation. I will send these letters to their respective politicians.

My first letter addresses Governor of Georgia Brian Kemp about his recent signing of Georgia Senate Bill 202, which implemented a variety of suppressive policies.

My second letter, for Rep. Rob Wittman of Virginia, explains why his choice to vote “nay” on the upcoming For the People Act of 2021 harms the future of equitable voting opportunity in America.

The third and fourth letters are for Sen. Richard Burr and Sen. Thom Tillis respectively. I wrote to these North Carolina senators to implore them to vote “yea” on the For the People Act 2021 when it enters the senate.
